Folk Dance has been at WMACS for even longer than most counselors can remember. Taught every year by a Taiwanese teacher, this class usually incorporates fans, hats, ribbons, masks, and scarves into each dance.
Each group gets their own dance routine and the spend all week preparing for their performance at the showcase back at home. Every year, the campers learn their dances in no time. They even look pretty good doing them!
Most years, teachers coming from taiwan will bring some props of their own. Last year’s item of choice were these bright blue and pink fans. Even the boys liked the dance! As you can see, Stephan was the happiest of them all.
As it’s hard to teach the boys how to be graceful, the teacher will even mix in a little wushu into the routines. Each of the performances has a story, so be sure to pay attention at the performance!
